Hi! I'm a member of a CoDA group. As I work the 12 Steps, I want to add a
gemstone to a chain. I am looking for a tiger eye, peridot, azurite,
obsidian, sodalite, flourite, clear quartz, agate, rose quartz, pearl,
dark iolite, and labradorite. I was wondering if you sell the stones, or if
you know where I can purchase them.

ReplyDeleteI hope you can understand my position and that I am not just being "picky", or selfish, or stubborn.
The creative concept of 12 Beads for 12 Steps - One bead to symbolize each step is a copyrighted idea, concept, creation and design of Sobriety Stones Spiritual Recovery Jewelry, and not only can I not sell you separate beads to create 12 Step jewelry for yourself, technically, you cant make it either.
According to my attorney, I can not allow or even encourage anyone to make a 12 Step Stones item where one stone marks progress or symbolizes the 12 Steps, or I could lose my copyright of entitlement, so that if one of the BIG guys come in and does it, I can't fight it cause I already implied it was ok for someone else to copy it.
Part of maintaining your copyright on any item is what they call practicing "Due Diligence" which means anytime, anywhere you see your copyright violated, you MUST fight it to keep it or you will lose your rights to it. Terrible way to have to do it, I know, sometimes I cringe when I have to write these letters, but it simply must be done. I have already had to have an attorney involved with a few companies from China who started making copies of 12 Step Stones! Some one else even purchased a DOMAIN to start her own website with my 12 Step Stones and I had to write to her and explained she couldn't do that. I'm so thankful she was was nice about it, and took the site down without incident.
I'm sorry that it has to be that way, I wish there were some ways to make exceptions, but he says I can not do that if I want to maintain my copyright. I really do hope you understand.
