Maybe there is a stone specifically for weight loss

Hi...

I happened across your site tonight as I was searching for
gemstones: meaning and abilities. My 15 y/o granddaughter (my husband and I are raising 2 of our g/d's: 9 and 15) is termed "morbidly obese" and has now decided that she is ready to take the steps to begin a program of weight loss. So, in a attempt to help her, I thought 'maybe there is a stone specifically for weight loss'. Well, sure enough, there it is... Apatite.
This is one awesome endeavor you have set forth on and I would like to applaud you on your hard work and the blessings that flow forth from the pages.

Your site is very very impressive and will take me weeks to get through, but I wanted to thank you for what you have made available to the many. I would
love to offer some of your works in my little shop, located in the
Street of Shops in Lewisburg, PA.

At the present time, we are, like thousands of others, so financially strapped that we cannot afford to buy any of your fine works, yet perhaps one day soon it will be possible for us to do that.

In the meantime, I again applaud your efforts that shower blessings for
the betterment of those who want help and are willing to help themselves.
AMAZING!! May your day be abundantly blessed,
Melanie W

June A:

How nice of you to tell me that, and how wonderful for you to have gotten the opportunity to begin again each day. So many, many people wish it but can not achieve it. Be proud. You are a miracle :)

My 19th anniversary was this past month. I have never been happier.

I am so thankful to be in recovery.

Hi Shirley,

I'm the one that asked you to put a frog clasp on my bracelet.
I can't tell you how pleased I am. I never take it off and it never comes unhooked. Actually I think it makes the overall effect of the bracelet prettier.

I thank you so much for your willingness to make the change and for the excellent job.

I was in treatment this year for 6 weeks to get on top of depression and addiction to prescription drugs. I am so thankful to be in recovery. I love your website.

Blessings on your day,
June A

I am just enthralled! Your work is just gorgeous!

Hello Shirley!

I have been making bracelets for family and friends and would like to branch out into necklaces also. I happened to come upon your site tonight and I am just enthralled! Your work is just gorgeous! A bit above my know-how at the moment, but it's good to have goals, right! If I may I'd like to ask about two particular pieces:

Are these a series of open jump rings? What a dazzling necklace! http://www.gemstonegifts.com/necklaces/images_necklaces/NEC25_amethyst_silver_necklace.jpg

Another unique one here...Where do you find the S-shaped wires?
http://www.gemstonegifts.com/necklaces/images_necklaces/NEC27_silver_%20ss_amethyst.jpg

Again, your work is stunning and any tidbit of knowledge you can share will be much appreciated!

I stumbled across your site...

I stumbled across your site and I have been back multiple times just today alone. The stories I have read and the inspiration I am getting from just knowing the meaning of such beautiful pieces of nature.

And, everytime I click on the link to get to the site, I find another interesting bit of information or another story that finds it's way into my heart.

What a remarkable site! I just wanted to say that it has been a pleasure stopping by your store and just browsing.

Thanks again!

Reply To JoDee:

JoDee,

First and from the bottom of my heart, I tell you that if you get the chance to go to school take it. It was all I had dreamed it would be, and more. I do not think I would be where I am today if I had not gone.

I dont mean that I wouldn't be good at making jewelry, but the change in perspective, and perception, the ability to see more than what your eyes tell you, and to see beneath the surface are only a few of the things I learned to do better.

I suck at business, and feel that will never change...I HATE paper work, I am so totally left brain...lol.

I have two things that will tell me that I have finally arrived...but I am not there yet. One, is to pay some one else to clean my house, and the other is to pay someone else to do the paperwork.

The paperwork is the one I hate the most...!

I am a one man band, but my goal is to develop at least a quartet.

Good luck to you, and god bless. Follow your heart, you will be just fine.

JoDee Says :Do you have any suggestions for me?"

Hi Shirley!

I have just discovered your sight while looking for the meanings of some stones I'm working with. I'm actually making a bracelet by request, for a friend named Shirley!! Kind of funny huh!

Anyway, I read your story and I am so impressed. I too, am at a point in my life where I'm not crazy about my work and I need to maintain my income. I have been doing clinical work as a Music Therapist and a Bereavement counselor for the past 20 years.
I have been making my own Jewelry for the past four and have been invited to shows here in Cleveland over the past year with wonderful success. I guess I'm writing to you to help me take the next huge step and make this my life. I LOVE creating and feel that I could have written so much of what is in your story. I too wish I could go to art school and learn more, but I also see that some people are just creative because it is the gift that was given them by God. I feel I fall in this category, BUT I know I have so much to learn.

Sometimes I'm afraid of being molded into something I'm not or being influenced by others work and then lose my perspective and approach to color, texture and shape, I'm sure you know what I mean.

So, all in all, was going to school worth it or do you feel you could have done what you're doing without it. Also, I feel I lack greatly in the business dealings of doing this work, how are you working your web site etc. I make only one of a kind pieces, what a challenge for selling on a site. I think I'd get bored with duplication. I've made over 400 pieces and each one is unique to itself, I love that challenge. Do you have any suggestions for me?

I'd love to hear from you!!
Take care and Good for you for taking the leap and following your heart...
I hope I'm right behind you!
Peace,
JoDee

I truly do appreciate your sensitivity...

Dear Shirley,

Thank you for your thoughtful answer to my query
about Howlite stone.
I truly do appreciate your sensitivity, as I am one
of those individuals myself......Life constantly unfolds.
Oddly enough, stones come to us when we don't necessarily
expect them.......
My mother-in-law from her hospital bed gave me a green aventurine
heart (one of several which a lady at the hospital had given her...to
share with others). My mother-in-law, who was recently diagnosed
with Cancer in the lungs, had been given a rose quartz heart. Lovely.
I shall again visit your web-site soon. It is new to me, but one which
I find most intruiguing & restful.
Again, thank you so very much.
Sincerely,
Michele F

Awesome website!

Hi Shirley~

Thank you for all of your work and information! Awesome website!

My husband and I have collected Agates since we were kids and LOVE all stones and gems. We work with them daily in our private life and in my healing business (are they any different?)

Have just spent hours browsing through your site and am sending lots of gratitude for the love you have allowed to flow through it and us.

Continued success to you and those you hold dear. Love, Joy, and Peace from Wisconsin! Jody

I love that you juse crystals to heal....

Hi Shirley,

I stumbled accross your site today while I was looking up the properties of Lepidolite and Apatite, which were my stones of choice for today (it's been Angelite all weekend!). Then, magpie that I am, I noticed that you made jewelry. So, unable to help myself, I had a look and I absolutely LOVE it!

I would also just like to say that I love that you use crystals for what they are intended for, to help people to heal! I am very lucky to have a good friend who is, I believe, a remarkably gifted crystal healer and I have been fortunate enough to have experienced truly amazing results with crystals during my own healing process and I am absolutely delighted that you are offering such a vital service to those who are willing to recieve it. And at the risk of sounding utterly shallow it's also GORGEOUS!

So the big question is....do you ship to England? and if so what are the charges etc?
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Kind regards

Kyra B

I am searching for direction...

Dear Shirley,

I stumbled across your website last night and read your story. Wow! Was I ever inspired. I am an artist myself, and presently trying to create a new direction for my life. I am separating from my husband at 34, and I'm trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up! I haven't worked outside the home (I've worked as a Mom) for 10 years and now face a similar challenge that you faced.

I have always been creative, but after a short career as a Graphic Designer, I decided that wasn't the path for me. I am on a spiritual journey as well and recently received my Reiki level 2 training. But since I was a child, I've had a passion for gemstones.

I am searching for direction, and when I saw your site, and the beautiful work you create, I thought hmmm. Here is someone who has fulfilled their heart's desire. I want to pursue my passions and not just settle for any old job.

So I guess I would like to say thank you for your inspiring story.

Sincerely,
Tracy D

Your story gives me hope.

I had a dream a few nights ago in which two women took my husband and me on a ride in a space ship to a distant planet. In preparation for our journey they said that we must have emeralds in order to make it easier for us to communicate with the beings from other worlds. They gave us stones and even told us to eat the special bread that they had baked with emerald dust added.

The dream felt important and I thought that I should check out the meaning of emeralds. I googled "meaning of emeralds" and hit "I feel lucky" and I went to your website. I was truly amazed at what I read and have already printed out the information about emeralds from your website. It had such personal meaning to me that I know that this is one of life's every day miracles. As I read though each part, I was in awe of how closely it pertained to me.

I just wanted to let you know how you have touched my heart. Indirectly by the meaning of emerald, but also by your story. I am a frustrated artist. I was told when I was a child that art was a waste of time and no one could actually make a living doing it. Though my grandmother encouraged me, my mother actually threw my art supplies in the garbage and denigrated my artistic endeavors. My doctor father and nurse mother pushed me all the way through nursing school. They told me that as a nurse, I would always have a job. I found that though I didn't feel called to nursing, after several years of trying different types of nursing, I found my niche. I got into maternal child nursing. I have worked in newborn nursery and mother baby nursing.

But I thought that I had truly arrived when I began teaching childbirth classes at a local hospital. Which I did for 13 years and I so loved my job. I thought that I would work there until I retired (I am 50 years old now). In late 2004 I was forced to resign. Though other reasons were given it was primarily as a cost savings measure for the hospital. They eliminated my position and pay hourly rate(read no benefits) to those that are doing my job now. Though it hurt my feelings to be kicked to the curb, it has changed my life in many positive ways. I no longer work in the evenings and weekends. I have more time with my children. I am self employed and work taking care of children and new moms.

Though I feel art calling me, it is my fear that prevents me from allowing myself something that I love. Your story gives me hope. You have found a way to follow your dream. I pray that I too will learn to follow my heart. I just now realized that the word heart actually contains art. Thank you for reading my very long email. Thank you for your beacon of hope on my healing journey. Blessings to you and to those that you love. May all of your days be filled with beauty and happiness.

I have felt better today than I have in a long time...

Hello,
I have been on your page for hours and I just couldn't leave without sending you a big warm thank you for your lovely website. I started getting into gemstones, crystals a few years ago for their healing power, then my life went crazy and I stopped, lost sight. I am getting started again, I instinctly knew which stones I needed, I went out today and got hematite, quartz crystal and tiger's eye. I was kinda surprised but not really when I got on your website and read about them and found they are exactly what I need. It is amazing. Just wanted to share that with you, I love these stones, I have felt better today than I have in a long time. Your site reminded me I need to remove other people's energy or whatever energy they have picked up until now so I just got done smudging them. So I just wanted to say thank you so much. And you jewelry is beautiful also. I read your story and you worked very hard to get here, I hope it is working out great for you, your art work is beautiful. Thank you again.

Best wishes and many blessings,
Kellie

Inspiration and Hope...

I have recently quit my job to follow my dream of making jewelry. (I have been doing this on the side for about 2 yrs). I was a manager of a jewelry store that is owned by the largest jewelry retail company in the country. After reading your story on your website and it really made me realize that I am doing the right thing! I have been doubting myself and feeling guilty for a while since I no longer have "real" income and my husband has been left to pay the bills. Thank You SOOOOOOOOOOO much for the inspiration (even if you didn't mean to)!!! Your work is wonderful and I hope to one day have pieces as beautiful as yours!

Kelly :)

Comfort in Spiritual Jewelry Purchase...

Hey Shirley, as promised, I wanted to finally take a moment and write a note for your website if you feel it sounds good enough. Sometimes I’m better with words than other times. I just had that back surgery last week; so I’m in pain off and on.

Dear Shirley
I found your website while browsing one night-very late. My husband recently passed away unexpectedly (48 years old) and I guess I was looking for a piece of jewelry that might connect me to him spiritually. I had been reading about stones and all of this was new to me. I wasn’t sleeping and to put it bluntly was “lost”. I have two sons who have been wonderful by my side and we are together struggling through this. All of our family is up north and we literally are going through this alone.

When I found your website; I went nuts! I placed a HUGE order on you not realizing that you made each piece individually which of course takes time and patience. I explained my state of mind and situation to you and how anxious I was to receive the jewelry from you ASAP. You were wonderful! You listened, showed care and concern-not once did you get impatient with my e-mails; you always promptly wrote me back. You actually cared about me as a person, not just a customer and well lets face it; nowadays nobody cares. (I’ve been finding that out).

You immediately filled my order as humanly possible; even sending me a partial order, just so I could start wearing some of it while you were still making the rest; while taking care of your other customers. I was and still am going through a very difficult time. I just recently had back surgery on top of it all. I’m only 43! It hasn’t been a very good year and everyone keeps telling me things happen for a reason……

Well every time I look in the mirror at my necklaces or earrings; and see the bracelets on my wrists I try and tell myself that .Each piece you made for me holds something special for my husband in my heart. To most people its just jewelry; to me-I have a little spiritual relief ; a connection between my husband and myself.

You are a wonderful, thoughtful person while also an excellent business owner. You made me feel I was always your only customer-a very personal touch, you listened to my wants, you took care of me. You are a very professional woman and I can only hope to run a business as personal and successful as you do. In return all I can do is pass your website along to others (which I have already) and sincerely say Thank you for listening, caring and designing this beautiful jewelry from the heart.

To anyone who browses your website; I can honestly say your jewelry is beautiful, excellent quality and created with love.

Sincerely,

Sally F

I loved your story!

Shirley,
I loved reading your story.
I'm a graphic designer. Similarly I went to school later, 29. Married when I was 35 and had my first child at 39. She's 8 now. I have the corporate Art Director job that works for family.

Recently, I started to rediscover my spiritual side, through a friend that does Reiki and crystal healing. I wanted to make a couple of necklaces for my daughter and I based on certain healing properties. I have never made jewelry in my life. Went to the local spiritual bead store, made some choices and went home to bead. Well, I got it on the string and finished, very poorly.

Since then I've picked up a couple of books, am learning to spot quality stones and have been experimenting with alot of design ideas. I thought it would be really nice to make healing jewelry for people. And lo and behold I saw your site. It's wonderful you're doing this.

I live in Los Angeles and plan on persuing this on a very local level. I just wanted you to know that seeing your site and beautiful pieces was an inspiration to keep going. I too find it very relaxing.

Warm Regards, Julie M

Special Recovery Gift!

Good news Shirley it fit!!! Thank you so much. You really need to know how special this is to me and the person who is wearing this bracelet.

Strange how things happen in this world. I have just been re-united with an old friend I haven’t seen in over 20 years. Since the last time I saw her, she has gone through some tough times and is Recovering and going through a 12 step program. The hardest part she is dealing with is Step 3, trusting in her higher power. I over the past 20 years have gone away from my “formal” religious upbringing and have turned to a more spiritual path that has me feeling pretty good about my life. I guess I have been able to give her some insight into trusting the Energy, Light, Power, God, what ever you wish to call it, that surrounds her. So this bracelet was something I felt might give her the sense of serenity and Peace of Mind when things may get chaotic. It’s also my birthstone.

I just found out that she will be celebrating 2 years of sobriety on Friday evening and that she picked out a blouse to wear that is purple! The bracelet will match perfectly. Thank you Shirley for your special gifts, I will visit again soon

Regards and Blessings to you, Frank T.

Jane: Answer

Jane,

So nice of you to write, thank you! Often, crystals change with the lighting, they are a different color under fluorescent lights at the office, vs. incandescent lighting at home. Their true color is revealed most often when you place the crystal on white paper outside in natural sunlight , and it also clears the crystal of any negative energy :)

Crystal LOVE the elements, it is their birthplace: Sun (Fire) Wind (Air) Rain (Water) Ground (Earth) Any of those elements will clear and clarify the energy of your crystal for you.

Shirley

Jane: Question about crystals changing color.

Dear Shirley:

I stumbled upon your website yesterday and have been back to visit again today. I purchased my first crystal in North Carolina on Saturday. My girl friend said that as I reached for the stone it "jumped" into my hand. I had been searching for "the right" crystal for several months and this one did seem to call to me. Long story short - it was violet/lilac in color. Yesterday when I arrived at my office it was blue. No variance to the shade at all. A rich light blue. Even on white paper it is blue. When I arrived home yesterday it had gone back to the violet/lilac shade. In the office today it is blue. I went to your website to determine the meaning and it fits with all that is going on in my life right now.

Thought you would enjoy a good true story. I'm searching for a crystal companion for this one, but I think it will seek me out just as this one has.

Thank you for such a rich website. The information is wonderful and I plan to visit often.

Best regards,

Jane

Greetings,
What an incredible website! I am so glad to have found you on google and very sorry to have found you just weeks away from Christmas. I ordered four items and really need three of them by Christmas for my little daughter. She is in the beginning of a healing journey and these are all so perfect for her. The bookmark is also a gift but could be given after the holidays without much trouble. I do not want, at least at this time, the bracelets and necklace if not available for Christmas gift giving. I will visit your site again very soon for other gifts but this is very specific for her and her path to wellness.

Thanks and I hope I am in time.
In peace and In awe of your beautiful work

Hello, I just want to say that I came upon your website quite by accident (if one believes in "accidents") and I absolutely love it and the theory behind all your stone, crystal and pearl choices. Bravo for great work!

I was really very moved by your words on your site, it is so wonderful. I hope a lot of people discover it because you're offering so much healing in such a simple and sacred way. It's just wonderful and I wish you all sorts of continued success!

NEW! SobrietyStones Blog!

Well, Ive been threatening to do this forever, so I made it my New Years resolution!

I wanted a place for you to be able to ask me your questions about the Meanings of Gem Stones, Recovery Jewelry, Spiritual Jewelry, and Inspirational Gifts for all 12 Step programs. Actually, I hope you see it as a site for all Spiritual Paths and Journeys, not just the 12 Step Community.

I started a BLOG because I get so many of the same questions, and feel bad that I just cant keep up with the requests via emails anymore, and STILL be able make custom jewelry for those of you who ask. I now get over 200 emails a day!!

I thought if there was a way to publicly answer your questions, you would more readily get answers, and not think I was ignoring your emails. I'm just overwhelmed with your wonderful interest and positive response to http://www.SobrietyStones.com!

I hate not being able to write to each and every one of you personally any longer, but Sobriety Stones Recovery Jewelry has grown beyond my wildest dreams, way beyond what I anticipated when I started it 7 years ago. Thank you to my wonderful customers! This 2006 Holiday Season was a record breaker for sales, and I owe you my deepest, most sincere thanks for making it possible to make my living by helping others to remember how wonderful they are and how far they have come in their spiritual journey. (NO, I am not getting rich, but I am able to pay all my bills, AND take a vacation, lol)

I am hoping to be able to post new 12 Step Recovery Jewelry items here. I also would like you to post your personal requests for custom jewelry here, AND your request for information regarding the Meanings of Gemstones that you don’t find here:

http://www.sobrietystones.com/resources/GemBook/Stones/

I am adding to the definitions as quickly as I can, but maybe I can respond to your request via this new BLOG, so that others who may be interested in the same piece, or the same gem stone, may also request it.

By the way, you guys have such great ideas! Many, many times I get requests for custom jewelry, and it turns out so much nicer than I even anticipated, ( art can be like that, sometimes it takes on a life of its own) that I make it a regular stock item for the site.

I will also start an area of the website for showing custom orders, which is something Ive never done before. Sad but true, many times I never even took pictures of them before they were sent out. Shame on me, but that is something I am changing now. Nothing gets out the door without getting its picture taken! Lol

Now, its goes without saying probably, but you get to post your thoughts as long as they are nice. If you are mean, its going to get deleted. Why? Because I make my living doing this, and your venting may mean I don’t eat this week, and that’s not OK with me. You can email me privately and yell at me all you want, ok? (I hope your don’t feel you need to do that)

Oh, one more thing. I TALK A LOT!! Ask anyone in my family, and they will tell you that’s my primary issue, I talk a LOT. This is going to be great, because I HATE the telephone, lol. Go figure, but I do, I HATE it. You have a much, much better chance of reaching me if you post via this BLOG, then if you call me on the phone. Really. That’s how much I HATE the telephone. And its easier for me to type you a reply at 1AM when I'm clearing off my desk and having a midnight snack, than call you at that time. Oh, you think so too? GREAT! Lets do that then, ok? You write to me here, I write back. It’s a deal!

Well, then lets get started, ok? Any of you have any questions for me? Oh, and by the way, if you click on the Google Ads for the stuff you're interested in reading about or purchasing on this BLOG, I get about 25 cents a click, and that pays for my time, so it’s a WIN WIN for both of us if you click on the Google Ads on this BLOG. You get more information and I get paid for my time and can spend more time working on the BLOG, ok?

I'm telling you that because I totally HATE it when people post links on a bunch of forums and blogs under the guise of being "helpful" and don’t tell you that they make money if you click on it or use it! I think its sneaky, and for better or worse, have you heard of that thing called "The 12 Steps"? Lots of stuff in there about HONESTY. Yeah, yeah, I know it’s a business, but I don’t agree. If your going to make money on it, your supposed to say so. Ok, I covered that.

What else? OH yeah, the "12 STEP STONES" "Twelve Beads for Twelve Steps" are picked by me. YUP, ME! AA, NA, ALANON, and all the rest of the 12 Step programs did NOT pick them, and does not say "Yeah, those stones represent us". I am the one who picked the stones for each program, based on their ancient metaphysical properties, and then I made it into jewelry for that 12 Step Program. YES, it is COPYRIGHTED AND TRADEMARKED (for those of you who make jewelry and really think it’s a GREAT idea)

I created SobrietyStones because I wanted to create ANONYMOUS JEWELRY for ANONYMOUS people. If is SAYS AA on it, its not anonymous, right? Well, that’s the whole point of Sobriety Stones Recovery Jewelry. I was celebrating 10 years, and I wanted a really nice, expensive piece to commemorate such an auspicious occasions, and wanted to be able to wear it everywhere I went, but didn’t want to announce that I was..well, a drunk. (you know, not every employer thinks its an assent to have an alkie working for them...go figure). So I made something nice in Amethyst, and spent good money making it, and used that to celebrate privately. AND, I wanted a way for your loved ones, your husbands, daughters, sons, and friends who have watched your struggle AND success to purchase something for you to show their support that you could proudly wear without announcing your status to the world.

I take this ANONYMITY thing pretty seriously.

And about that anonymity thing as a merchant on line. I tried really hard in the beginning to stay anonymous, but people wouldn’t spend money at a place they couldn’t verify was legit. I have to post my name, phone number, address, etc, or they wouldn't give me their credit card information! Can you imagine, they would only give it to a site they trusted???? So, lets not all get into a tizzy over knowing who I am, ok? I couldn’t help it, if you figure out a way to own a business and not have any one know who you are, and still convince them to give you money, let me know, ok? I couldn’t figure that one out.

If there is anything else you'd like to know about WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, and WHY, just ask me here, and Ill do my best to answer you.

Sincerely, and with much gratitude,
Shirley G./Owner
